Abstract
The high-frequency common-mode voltage (CMV) generated by switching actions of semiconductor devices may cause premature failure of insulation system and metallic bearings in the motor drive systems. To suppress the common-mode voltage, a filter utilizing motor windings and passive components is proposed in this paper. The simulation of the motor with the proposed integrated filter employing field-oriented control is presented and the results indicate that this filter significantly reduces the peak-to-peak value, RMS value and the high order harmonic components of CMV. Moreover, the negative effects associated with this integrated filter in the motor, including energy losses caused by passive elements and increased output torque ripple of the system has been investigated in the paper.
