Leveraging Specialized Information Systems for Work Engagement of Employees with Disabilities: Roles of Disability Self-Identity and Stigma Consciousness

Specialized information systems (SIS) are widely used by employees with disabilities. However, the impact of SIS on work engagement remains inconclusive, which requires further scrutinization. This study aims to investigate the mediating role of disability self-identity in the relationship between SIS use and work engagement of employees with disabilities. Moreover, the moderating role of their stigma consciousness is considered because the effectuation of SIS use is subject to the environment where employees with disabilities live in. This study plans to adopt survey method to collect data from respondents who are employees with hearing or visual disability. This study is expected to contribute to literature on SIS use and work engagement of employees with disabilities by unraveling the roles of disability self-identity and stigma consciousness. It aims to provide suggestions to employers on how to leverage SIS to build an inclusive environment for employees with disabilities to unleash their potential.
