Abstract

Metaverse has emerged as a prominent research direction, to realize human interactions unfold in virtual environment, considering both intent and the underlying physical mechanisms. However, user actions in the metaverse are driven by user mental processes with indirect mapping between user behavior and interaction, which differs from those in the real world. In this paper, we aim to emphasize the importance of interactive intention, bringing a sense of purpose in metaverse. Through an analysis of existing research, we present a conceptual framework that connects the metaverse with perspectives from human-computer interaction (HCI). This work provides actionable insights for advancing environment construction, interactive intention, and user factors in metaverse, bridging HCI principles with emerging paradigms.
