Abstract

We report that individuals carrying the CCR5Δ32 mutation, a naturally occurring variant of the C-C chemokine receptor 5 (CCR5), are at reduced risk of developing asthma. These data suggest a possible explanation for the high prevalence of this mutation in the general population.
