An Empirical Study on the Design of Dynamic Music Visualization for Therapy Based on Synesthesia Feature Mapping

Abstract

This study aims to explore the healing effectiveness of music visualization design based on synesthesia, analyze the impact of dynamic mapping of synesthesia characteristics on emotion regulation, and verify the potential application in mental health. A dynamic visualization was constructed, and a strong and soft dual-mode synesthesia feature dynamic mapping was set. A mixed research method was adopted to recruit 30 participants for a controlled experiment, combined with the Perceived Stress Scale (PSS-10), the Positive and Negative Affect Scale (PANAS), the Aesthetic Pleasure Scale and semi-structured interviews. The results show that visualization with synesthesia significantly alleviates negative emotions, and soft dynamic design has better effects; aesthetic pleasure is significantly correlated with positive emotions and stress relief. The core healing dimensions include dynamic amplitude adaptability, personalized color perception, and music and visual synchronization rhythm. Soft dynamic design is more likely to induce immersion and relaxation due to its soft atmosphere, while an intense one may cause tension. Therefore, the visualization based on synesthesia can effectively regulate emotions through multi-sensory synergy, and its healing effect is significantly affected by the dynamic parameters, aesthetic experience and user perception differences. In the future, it is necessary to optimize the dynamic adaptive algorithm further to improve healing accuracy.
