Abstract
Oral presentations have become an extremely common form of assessment in Higher Education and they can now be found in almost every academic discipline. MA TESOL or Applied Linguistics students are highly likely to encounter them, so it is well-worth becoming familiar with what they require.
This chapter thus aims to demystify oral presentations. Most of the information I will share focuses on the knowledge and skills needed for giving individual oral presentations. However, at different points, I will also discuss how to approach giving oral presentations in groups. Towards the end of the chapter, there is a dedicated section on how to handle poster presentations, as these may also occasionally be a coursework requirement.
