Dr. Zheng Chu is an Assistant Professor at Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Unversity of Nottinham, Ningbo, China. Prior to this, he held research positions with the Faculty of Science and Technology, Middlesex University, London, UK, from 2016 to 2017, and with the Institute for Communication Systems (Home of 5G & 6G Innovation Centre), University of Surrey, Guildford, UK, from 2017 - 2024, respectively. He earned M.Sc. (with distinction) and Ph.D. degrees in the School of Engineering (former the School of Electrical and Electronic Engineering), Newcastle University, Newcastle upon Tyne, UK, in 2012 and 2016, respectively.

Currently, he has authored/co-authored over 150 top-tier peer-review journal and flagship conference papers with over 8000 citations (h-index of 51 in Google Scholar profile), where 7 journal papers have been classified as ESI Highly Cited Paper. He has been included in the list of world top 2% research scientists at 2020 - 2025. He is a Member of IEEE, and Fellow of The Higher Education Academy (FHEA) (Recognition reference: PR181775).

Currently, Dr. Chu is mainly working on intelligent sensing and communications, especially in the following research interests:

  • Artificial Intelligence (AI) driven future networks

  • Wireless powered communication networks

  • Multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) systems

  • Wireless information security

  • Edge computing and wireless caching
