Dr. Yuanyuan Shao possess a Ph.D degree in Engineering Science from The University of Western Ontario. She is an associate professor / senior PI at University of Nottingham Ningbo and an adjunct professor at the University of Western Ontario. She is titled as “Ningbo Yongjiang Innovative Talent”. She was awarded a permanent title of “Future Chemical Engineering Scholar” by the Global Academy of Chinese Chemical Engineering Scholars and served as a youth member of the chemical process intensification professional committee of the Chemical Industry and Engineering Society of China.
Dr. Shao is specialized with bio-particulate technology, applications of fluidization technology, comprehensive utilization of microalgae-related bioenergy, biological utilization of CO2, particle enhanced wastewater treatment process, etc. She has undertaken multiple research projects, covering fundamental and applied research on process integration and intensification, industrial applications of particle science, and fundamental investigation on the bio-utilization of microalgal biomass. She has been awarded 8 national-funded/ industrial-cooperated projects as PI and participated 9 national-funded/ industrial-cooperated projects as Co-PI/CoI. She published 91 peer-reviewed journal papers and is granted 11 invention patents including 2 US patents. She has given three course lectures and (co-)supervised 11 PhD thesis and 11 Master thesis as well as 39 undergraduate diploma projects. Sixteen PhD projects and four master’s candidates are under her (co-)supervision.
