I am an Assistant Professor in English Education in the School of Education and English. I completed my PhD in Applied Linguistics at the University of York, UK, where my doctoral research investigated the influence of first languages on the processing and production of English tense–aspect by adult Chinese and Arabic learners.

I joined UNNC in February 2025 following the completion of my doctoral studies. I also serve as the Director of the Language and Pedagogy Lab within the School of Education and English. In this role, I support research development across the school and provide training to student research projects.

My research interests lie within the field of second language acquisition (SLA), particularly in the areas of cross-linguistic influence in L2 acquisition, the role of implicit and explicit knowledge, and individual differences in language learning.

I adopt a quantitative approach, often combining traditional SLA methods (e.g. grammaticality judgment tasks) with psycholinguistic measures (e.g. eye-tracking and reaction time tasks), to better understand how learners acquire and process language in real time.

I am involved primarily in teaching on MA TESOL and Undergraduate programmes. My teaching includes modules such as:
