Yina Sima is an urban planner and researcher whose work advances sustainable urbanism and resilient urban form through the integration of urban morphology, spatial analysis, and design theory. She investigates how city structures evolve across scales, addressing urgent questions of adaptability, sustainability, and resilience in the context of rapid urban and environmental change.
Her research combines big data analytics with computational, quantitative, and visual approaches, bridging design thinking with data-driven analysis. This generates actionable insights into the dynamics of urban form and informs policy, planning, and design for more resilient and sustainable cities.
Looking forward, Yina seeks to expand computational and data-driven methods to shape climate-responsive, inclusive, and adaptive urban futures. By linking urban form research to global challenges, her work contributes to building cities that are more sustainable, just, and livable.
With academic and professional experience across China, Europe, and Australia, spanning higher education, government, and the non-profit sector, Yina brings a global and interdisciplinary perspective to her research. She is also accepting potential PhD students interested in urban resilience, sustainable design, and data-driven approaches to the study of future cities.
