Personal profile
Yilong Yang is a Japanese language tutor at the Language Centre and served as a senior tutor of the department from March 2021 to January 2025. Before joining UNNC, he taught EFL learners in China, focusing primarily on standardized testing for postsecondary admissions, language proficiency, and academic achievement. He has also worked with JFL, CFL, and Japanese and Chinese heritage learners in higher education settings in the United States.
Yilong graduated Phi Beta Kappa with honors from Vassar and later earned an MSc with distinction from Oxford and an EdM from Harvard. He received intensive Japanese language training during his junior year abroad at Waseda and foundational training in classical Japanese at Harvard.
