Personal profile
My main research includes international economics, urban economics and innovation.
Within international economics, I focus on trade policies and trade agreements, and their interplay with firms' performance, institutions and innovation. Specifically, I study global interdependent development through the lenses of market access and institutions. From a long-run historical perspective, I propose a "flying geese" pattern of institutional reform where countries in the world center reform first, followed by periphery countries. I also examine the innovation and welfare effects of regional trade agreements. My recent work explores the complementarity between face-to-face interaction and international outsourcing.
In urban economics, my research centers on economic geography, analyzing firms' location choices, labor mobility, and their broader economic implications.
