Expertise Summary

Dr. Xu’s major academic interests and expertise lie largely in mobile studies and journalism studies. As the founder of Mobile Studies International, Dr. Xu has been passionately advocating and promoting mobile studies around the world. On top of that, he has also been working as a media and communication consultant for various organizations in Asia and beyond.  

Professional Activities

Dr. Xu has been staying closely connected with mobile, creative and experience industries for dialogues, collaboration and consultancy. Since 2013, he has been serving as the editor-in-chief of an IGI Global book series Advances in Wireless Technologies and Telecommunications (AWTT), which has published 78 volumes. He is also a member of the editorial board of International Academic Journals and Journal of Development and Communication Studies.  


Dr. Xu is available for supervising master and doctoral students who are interested in media and communication studies, especially in mobile, creative and experience studies. Besides any topic in media and communication studies, other possible topics could be generally related to mapping, measuring and modelling mobile, creative or experience industries. He is also available for undergraduate dissertation supervision in any area related to media and communication studies.
