Personal profile
Dr. Mendis joined UNNC in 2022 and has experience in teaching and research. She obtained her Bachelor's degree in Architectural Environment Engineering followed by her Master's in Sustainable Building Technology from the University of Nottingham. She later obtained her PhD in Engineering from Huazhong University of Sciene and Technology (HUST), China, after which she continued teaching as a Senior Lecturer at Kotelawala Defence University (KDU), Sri Lanka, where she taught building services, lighting and acoustics, and research methods to undergraduate architecture students. During her time at HUST and KDU, she conducted research on photovoltaic integration on urban buildings in tropical climates, coupled with economic evaluation of photovoltaics and assessment of urban block typologies. Her current research is focused on the evaluation of outdoor thermal comfort and urban block typologies coupled with building energy performance.
