Steven Dellaportas is a Professor of Accounting with an academic career spanning 30 years teaching and researching the principles and practice of accounting. His affiliations include RMIT University, Deakin University, La Trobe University and Federation University. Prior to joining academia, Steven was a tax accountant providing taxation services and advice to small and medium size business clients.

Steven has taught and coordinated courses in accounting in Bachelor and Masters degrees including: auditing; management accounting, professional ethics and governance. Steven’s commitment to learning and teaching stems from innovative modes of delivery, based on the principles of experiential learning.

Steven’s primary areas of research is professional ethics in accounting and accounting education. He has a particular interest in codes of ethics, fraud, professionalism and ethics education. Steven is a member on several editorial boards and is presently Co-Editor of the Accounting Section for the highly regarded Journal of Business Ethics.

Steven has published several articles in international peer reviewed journals including the Journal of Business Ethics, Accounting Auditing and Accountability Journal, Accounting and Finance; Accounting Forum, Critical Perspectives on Accounting, British Accounting Review, and many others. Steven is the lead author of two textbooks, the most recent titled: Principles of Ethics and Corporate Governance in Financial Services, McGraw Hill, 2012.

Steven has demonstrated sustained leadership roles including Dean, Head, Deputy and Associate Head, in Schools of Accounting in Australia. He also engages actively with professional bodies such as CPA Australia and CAANZ and is a content developer of professional development programs.
