Personal profile
I am a creative producer–researcher working at the intersection of immersive storytelling, creative technology and industry innovation. My creative practice research develops and stages expanded narrative experiences across live performance, virtual production, extended reality (XR) and audio-visual installation. These projects function both as public-facing works and as research laboratories, generating insight into how stories operate across space, technology and audience encounter.
Alongside production, I examine how creative practice research is articulated, documented and evaluated within academic contexts. My work explores models of articulation that move beyond retrospective description, asking how practice can generate theory through calibrated processes of reflection, documentation and dissemination. This includes developing frameworks for practice-based research design, industry-aligned research outputs, and new forms of scholarly publication that better reflect contemporary creative workflows.
A current strand of research focuses on duanju (vertical micro-drama) and the rapid transformation of screen storytelling in mobile-first ecosystems. I investigate how short-form, vertically framed dramas are reshaping narrative structure, production pipelines, monetisation models and global distribution. This work connects with a broader interest in artificial intelligence and emerging modes of production, including AI-assisted writing, virtual production infrastructures, and new hybrid labour formations in the creative industries.
Across all areas, I work to connect industry, policy and academia. I have extensive experience building partnerships between universities, independent producers, technology companies and cultural stakeholders, helping to translate research into sector development and policy dialogue. My practice aims to dissolve traditional boundaries between the university and the creative industries, positioning research as an active, collaborative force within evolving creative ecosystems.
