Research Interests
His current research interests are focused on computational intelligence, data-driven optimisation approaches, operations research, evolutionary algorithms, modeling, scheduling, and optimisation within the transportation and hospitality sectors.
Personal profile
Ning Xue obtained his Ph.D. degree in Computer Science from the University of Nottingham in 2017. Following the completion of his doctoral studies, he worked as a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Nottingham and as a data scientist at a leading logistics software company in the UK. In the latter role, he designed, implemented, and deployed enterprise logistics optimisation engines, which are being used in major shopping malls and supermarkets in the UK, Australia, Europe, New Zealand, and Saudi Arabia, saving businesses more than 10% in costs.
In January 2024, Ning Xue joined the University of Nottingham Ningbo China as an Assistant Professor in the School of Computer Science. He has also taken on leadership roles, notably as the chair of the Linear Programming Subcommittee at the 2019 International Conference on Operations Research and Enterprise Systems, as well as the 2018 IEEE World Congress on Computational Intelligence Automatic Parameter Tuning Algorithm Subcommittee. Notably, he was recognized with the Outstanding Paper Award at the International Conference on Supply Chain Management.
Ning Xue's main research interests include artificial intelligence, computational intelligence, and combinatorial optimisation. He is skilled in modeling complex systems and designing efficient algorithms for solving them. Additionally, he is proficient in using interpretable machine learning techniques for in-depth data mining and exploration.
Dr. Ning Xue is seeking for MRes and PhD students, and scholarship can be provided for excellent PhD students. You are welcome to contact him if you are interested.
