Expertise Summary
Prof. Buticchi’s research focuses on power electronics for renewable energy systems, smart transformer fed micro-grids and dc grids for the More Electric Aircraft. Prof. Buticchi is one of the advocates for DC distribution systems and multi-port power electronics onboard the more electric aircraft. A sizeable share of his research is also related to the improvement of the reliability for the power electronics systems.
Prof. Buticchi was heavily involved in European Projects related to the smart grids and the application of power electronics to provide services to the power systems. He is author/co-author of more than 350 scientific papers in peer reviewed Journals and Conferences and he has been actively contributing with tutorials and special sessions at the most relevant international meetings in Power Electronics.
Prof. Buticchi held several roles within the University, as Interim Vice Provost for Research and Knowledge Exchange, Interim Dean of the Faculty of Science and Engineering, Associate Dean for Research and Knowledge Exchange of the Faculty of Science and Engineering and Head of the Power Electronics, Machines and Control Research Group.
