Daniel has built an extensive career in higher education, teaching Spanish language and culture at leading institutions including Heilongjiang International University, Xiamen University, and the University of Nottingham Ningbo China (UNNC). With over a decade of international teaching experience, he has developed expertise in designing learner-centred courses, fostering intercultural communication, and supporting students across diverse educational contexts.
In addition to teaching, Daniel has held academic leadership roles, including serving as Director of Teaching of the Language Centre and Team Coordinator of the Spanish courses, where he led teaching teams, coordinated programme delivery, supported curriculum development, and contributed to enhancing teaching quality and the overall student learning experience. This leadership experience has strengthened his ability to collaborate across teams, mentor colleagues, and implement effective educational practices.
Daniel's work is driven by a commitment to creating engaging, inclusive, and evidence-informed learning experiences. In recent years, he has developed a strong interest in instructional design, digital learning, and the application of artificial intelligence in education, exploring how technology can enhance curriculum design, content development, learner engagement, and educational outcomes.
Teaching
Daniel has taught Spanish language, linguistics, culture, and language pedagogy courses across three international universities in China, working with undergraduate and postgraduate students from beginner (CEFR A1) to advanced (C1) levels. His teaching experience spans language acquisition, grammar, pronunciation, Spanish culture, business Spanish, and teacher education. Combining communicative, task-based, and project-based approaches to create engaging and authentic learning experiences.
As a Module Convenor, Daniel has been responsible for the design, delivery, and continuous enhancement of language modules, overseeing curriculum planning, assessment design, learning resources, and quality assurance to ensure a consistent and high-quality student experience. He has developed blended and technology-enhanced learning experiences using Moodle, generative AI, and a range of digital learning tools to support student engagement and independent learning.
