To date, Professor Paulraj has followed a focused research agenda that has been anchored within the area of SCM. His initial research was dominated by relational aspects of the field; but, he has slowly moved onto other key domains such as logistics, distribution channels, as well as sustainability. His current research efforts predominantly focus on sustainable supply chains as well as supply chain innovation. A majority of his research publications were in peer-reviewed journals. He has published over 40 research articles in operations and supply chain management journals including Journal of Operations Management, International Journal of Operations and Production Management, Journal of Supply Chain Management, Journal of Business Logistics, International Journal of Production Research, Journal of Business Ethics, among others.
Professor Paulraj currently serves as an Associate Editor for the International Journal of Operations and Production Management as well as the Journal of Supply Chain Management. He also regularly serves as reviewer for leading OM and SCM journals such as Journal of Operations Management, Decision Sciences Journal, Production and Operations Management Journal, Journal of Business Logistics, IEEE Transactions on Engineering Management, and International Journal of Production Research.
Professor Paulraj's research interests are within operations management, supply chain management, strategic sourcing, sustainable supply chains and supply chain innovation.
Before joining the Nottingham University Business School China, professor Paulraj served as a Chair Professor of Operations and Supply Chain Management at the Alliance Manchester Business School, The University of Manchester, UK. He has also held academic positions in Denmark and the USA. Before joining academia, he has worked as an IT consultant for over 10 years. As a consultant, professor Paulraj has worked with numerous clients in Ohio, USA. During this tenure, he has assumed and excelled in different roles including project management, technical lead, business analyst, software architect, as well as programmer.
Professor Paulraj has taught courses at the undergraduate, masters, doctorate, and executive MBA programs. While he started his academic career teaching quantitative courses (operations research), he eventually moved onto teaching empirical (statistical analysis), research methodology, and courses involving case-based as well as experiential pedagogy. Professor Paulraj has also taught graduate and doctoral courses in universities spanning multiple countries. Most of his courses have received high teaching scores and favorable student feedback.
