Personal profile
Amarpreet Gill is an Assistant Professor in Design and an award-winning designer, with extensive experience in both the design industry and academia. Graduated from the prestigious MFA Transport Design program at Umea Institute of Design, Sweden, Amarpreet has worked for several global companies, including SAAB AB, Electrolux Group, and ŠKODA Auto A.S.
Since joining University of Nottingham Ningbo China (UNNC) in 2013, Amarpreet has won 30+ international design awards, secured multiple patents, led several industry-education collaborations, and published in international peer-reviewed journals. He is a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy and core member of V-ROOM, which was awarded the Vice-Chancellor’s Medal in 2022.
Research Interests
As a researcher, Amarpreet Gill specialises in design and engineering education, design for innovation, technology-enhanced learning, interdisciplinary education, industry-education collaboration, and human-computer interaction. His PhD research explores the integration of technology and digital pedagogy in design and engineering education, aiming to enhance learning outcomes and industry relevance.
Amarpreet actively collaborates with both industry partners and academic institutions on research and commercial projects, striving to bridge the gap between education and industry through innovative design solutions and the application of emerging technologies.
