On Thursday March 19, 2026, Professor Douglas Bell from the School of Education and English delivered a presentation at the biennial Philip Larkin Society international conference hosted by the University of Hull. The title of his paper was ‘Innocence, Envy, Deceptions and Disappointments: Love and Philip Larkin’ and sought to explore the thematic handling of love and relationships embedded in Philip Larkin’s poetry, novels and letters between 1946 and his death in 1985.
