Not all concrete is created equally. Lightweight concrete (LWC) is a feasible rehabilitation technique for many structures, including bridges and high-rises. TRB hosted a webinar on Monday April 12, 2021 from 1:00 to 2:30 PM Eastern that discussed the current usage and demand of LWC in the United States. Presenters provided an overview of the technical aspects and sustainability of LWC. They also illustrated specific barriers, including construction culture, levels of awareness, and technical myths. This webinar featured research from NCHRP Research Report 773: High-Performance/High-Strength Lightweight Concrete for Bridge Girders and Decks.
